New School families are invited to participate in BLINK Community Light Parade organized by ArtWorks

BLINK, October 12th – 15th 2017, is expected to be one of the largest light, art and projection mapping events in the nation. The four-day event will feature large-scale projection mapping installations, murals, urban artscapes, media light and interactive art in Cincinnati, OH. BLINK will span 20 city blocks, from Cincinnati’s Banks to Findlay Market. Food and beverages will also be available. BLINK is free and open to the public.

BLINK kicks off with a community art parade on its’ opening night, Thursday, October 12th. Artists, schools and community members are invited to join. The parade will begin at Findlay Market at dusk (around 7:15 pm) and go to Washington Park. All school students and their families will parade first in the lineup, arriving to the park to be wrapped up as early as 8 or 8:30 pm. The goal is to have 1000+ eyeball lanterns in total that will be ceremoniously hung in Washington Park at the end of the parade.ArtWorks hopes to engage 50 + schools in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area for involvement.

New School families and staff are invited to create their own lantern and walk in the parade as part of a group for The New School.

  • There are two upcoming workshops to create your very own eyeball lantern. All workshops are open to the entire New School community (students, siblings, parents and guardians and staff).
  • Workshops will be hosted by New School parent and ArtWorks employee, Colleen Houston. All materials will be provided.
  • The only requirement to make a lantern is to also participate and walk in the parade on Thursday, October 12th.
