New School Montessori 4th graders are studying chemistry

Fourth graders are learning about atoms and how they combine to make molecules. They are studying molecular formulas and the chemical naming system. In the photo, Ella and Anneliese match common household products with their chemical names and formulas.

Annual Giving

As an independent, non-profit school we have created a community that understands the importance of small class sizes, nutritious lunches, Montessori principles, and a relationship with our families and students that makes it clear we are not just educating the “whole child,” but rather, EVERY unique child. Our Annual Giving Campaign is starting this week, and I wanted to take a moment to share why it is so important to give. Each year, The New School Montessori relies on donations from families, staff, friends and alumni to offset tuition, facility upkeep, classroom programming, scholarship opportunities, and teacher salaries. You might …

Bus Reimbursement

If your local school district supplies bus transportation, then you may be eligible for a several hundred dollar reimbursement check from them. Since you chose a private school (and your school district doesn’t provide busing to TNSM) many public schools offer a reimbursement for the taxes you paid to cover busing for your children. From what we were told, the reimbursement only covers K-6. Please check with your public school for more information.

Harvest Moon Celebration

Alumni, current families, staff and friends of The New School Montessori came together on Saturday night for a potluck picnic. We enjoyed music by TNSM parent Kristen Kreft, face painting, balloon art and great conversation with friends – both old and new.

Students enjoy an afternoon in the Preprimary Woods

Jakob builds a baseball stadium, Zoe and Lisa make a cup of sand tea, and Justine, Charlie, Merope and Clara hang out together on the bench in The New School Montessori’s Preprimary Woods.

A recent email from an alumni parent and grandparent

“TNSM is such a special place. Everyone at The New School Montessori is so dedicated. Just look at how my daughter feels about Shakespeare Club. We recently watched a documentary on Shakespeare, and she kept up her own commentary adding information to the host’s comments. She is so excited about Hamlet and is trying to get her courage up to try out for Ophelia. Other schools just cannot compare to The New School experience. We were here for nine years for our daughter, and it’ll be ten years for our granddaughter (since she started at age two). I could never thank you …
