Preprimary students learn about botany

TNSM teacher Colleen Blumer led the children in a botany lesson where students picked a variety of different flowers and collected them in egg cartons to take back to the classroom. Colleen reviewed various plant parts. They went from the very simple (flower, bud, stem, leaf and root) to the complex (pollen, pistil, stamen, egg case, seeds and more). Colleen captured a special sequence of moments when Noah scattered a puff of dandelion seeds with a mighty blow.

Welcome to Everything Island – Kindergarten Play

Each year, kindergartners write their own original play where the costumes, set, script, choreography and music are created by the children. This year, they welcomed us to “Everything Island” where numerous kinds of animals and a super Ninja were affected by an earthquake. Together, they helped rebuild broken bridges to unite the community. FINALE SONG    UNCUT VERSION OF THE PLAY

Kindergarten Art Show

While studying the life and works of Frida Kahlo, students learned of the terrible accident and pain that plagued Frida. They created their Kahlo-inspired works while lying on their backs, painting with a mirror as Frida did during that period of her recovery. Pictured below is a sample of our kindergartners’ work from their art show. They have been studying Monet, Degas, Frida Kahlo and Todd Parr.
