A transformation: Caterpillars become butterflies – Student observers become writers!

New School Montessori (3-6) students are studying caterpillars in their classroom. The students observe as  the fuzzy creatures munch on leaves, turn into chrysalises and eventually emerge as butterflies.

What is equally exciting is that we get to observe the transformation of these preprimary students as they trace sandpaper letters with their fingers, learn letter sounds, study consonant blends and emerge as astute observers who are able to record their observations. What amazing transformations!
