50th Anniversary Celebration

Hello,

I want to tell you a story. It’s a short one, but it’s beautiful. Like most beautiful stories, it involves children.

Once upon a time, 50 years ago, somewhere inside the Milky Way on a brave and fragile planet called Earth, a few very special people (out of billions) found a few very special acres (out of billions) and called it home. But it wasn’t for them; it was a home for children. It was a place just for them.

This place had some trees to climb on, swing from, hug, and lie under. It had an old enchanting home where the children could explore and dream up anything they wanted. Where did the dinosaurs go? How did a rocket land on the Moon? What do I want to be when I grow up?

Children listened and played music together, they danced, they asked questions, they loved learning new things. They didn’t know how lucky they were that the adults who loved them remembered how important childhood is, how brave and fragile it is. The adults remembered what it felt like to dream big, be daring, swing from trees, and never stop asking, “What do I want to be when I grow up?”

Maybe you are one of those children – or maybe one of the adults. Maybe you know this story because you are a part of it. Do you know how it ends? It doesn’t have to. I told you it was beautiful. Please join us on Friday, September 25 to honor our past and dream big about our future.
