Students used their phonemic awareness to sound out words with the Moveable Alphabet and to share interesting facts.

New School Montessori students in our (3-6) program have been doing research with the Maria Montessori’s Moveable Alphabet! Students chose a card from a wide selection of topics that interested them. These topics ranged from important information about a variety of animals to solar system topics. The children then chose a fact from their card to write about using their phonemic awareness to sound out words with the Moveable Alphabet.

As you read the interesting animal and solar system facts that our preschoolers wanted to share with you, you may notice that in the Montessori Moveable Alphabet, vowels are blue and consonants are red.
