Preprimary woods was abuzz with activity.

Mae discovered a cicada in the preprimary woods and quickly shared the great moment with everyone.   Leo and his classmates learned how different colors reflect or absorb heat from the sun. In their experiment, they observed ice cubes in a Ziploc bag and determined whether the ones on the white or the black paper lasted longer.

Magazine Sale Update – Emails through Midwest site not always sent

We are extending the first turn-in day for our fall fundraiser to Monday. Midwest Community Fundraising has discovered that there are some problems sending emails to friends and family through the fundraising website.  They are working to fix the issue. Some of the emails have not gone through. Here is another option for sending your friends and family an email about how they can participate. TNSM teacher, Jennifer Frank, leads CRS movement classes

Jennifer Frank is a Montessori-trained preprimary teacher at The New School Montessori and in addition has taught creative movement, yoga and ballet to people of all ages. In Jennifer’s work with the Cincinnati Ballet, she is leading a creative movement course for people with developmental disabilities at Catholic Residential Services (CRS). Jennifer appeared with her adult students in CRS’ recent newsletter.          

Harvest Moon Festival Is Coming Soon!

Harvest Moon Festival Saturday, September 27 5:30 -8:00 Please join us for the Harvest Moon Festival where we come together to celebrate the TNSM community! Alumni families, current families, staff and friends of TNSM are welcome to attend. Please bring a favorite homemade dish or dessert to share. Plates, cups and silverware are provided. For your own comfort please bring a blanket or chairs for seating on the grass and drinks of your choosing. There will be plenty of playground time for the kids. Alumni Updates

New School Montessori friendships run deep. Caleb Lustig (’07), Nathan Lamba (‘07), Daniel Miller (’07) and Nabil Wadih (‘07) who have been friends since first grade, rented a house together at the Ohio State University for the upcoming school year. Perhaps they’ll have “morning meetings” before tackling their work. Esper Wadih (’04) graduated in May from the Ohio State University in biomedical engineering and is attending the University of Cincinnati Medical School this fall. In May, Annabel Forman (’13) played the lead part of “Kira” in Xandu, Jr. with the University of Cincinnati’s CCM Junior Musical Theatre. Claire Harrison (’13) …

TNSM staff is looking forward to school starting next week!

The staff met earlier this week to ready the classrooms, to reconnect as a group and to enjoy the wonderful lunch that was provided by TNSM families. Here is some of what we were up to over the summer… Karen Titsworth spent time with her daughter who is in her last year of college. Karen went to a few concerts and worked on her house. Yancy Pyle visited San Francisco and went to the Outer Banks. Johnnye White prepared community dinners at a church in College Hill. The Wednesday dinner program has grown from feeding 65 to 250. TNSM Alumni Natania Hoffman Performed in Europe.

  From Lisbon to Prague, Natania Hoffman (’04) has toured much of Europe with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, whose members auditioned from conservatories throughout Europe. Natania graduated this spring from the Musikhochschule Lübeck (the Lübeck Conservatory) in Germany where she studied cello performance for two years, transferring there after studying in Saarbrücken for two years. Her experience as a foreign student was very rewarding. Special scholarships were available to international students, and support was given to ease the transition of students new to studying and living abroad. TNSM Staff Was Grateful for the Wonderful Staff Appreciation Luncheon!

As TNSM staff gathered  for a meeting and to prepare their classrooms, they were treated to a lovely luncheon prepared by TNSM families. It was great to see several alumni and current students come along to help set up and serve with their parents. The food was delicious, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone again once school starts next week.
