David Levy from Toastmasters shared public speaking information with 6th graders

David Levy, a member of Toastmasters and co-creator of Cincinnati’s True Theatre, came to The New School Montessori as a special guest speaker to talk with 6th graders about their Senior Project presentations. He gave the 6th graders advice about how to use their voices and their body language to enhance their speeches. David also used some of the students’ topics in examples demonstrating various public speaking principles. He showed the students the importance of speaking slowly and adding pauses. David stressed that emotions should be synchronized with facial expressions, and he taught the 6th graders to write an effective introduction and a memorable conclusion. We can’t wait to see the students use this advice as they continue to practice and later present their speeches.
