Students worked with Fact Families to understand relationships among number groups

This New School Montessori first grader is working on Fact Families. Fact families are a collection of related addition and subtraction facts involving the same numbers.

Using the image of a house, this student saw 3 numbers on the roof (represented by Montessori colored beads). She then used a dry erase marker to fill in the 4 math facts that are created from those 3 numbers.

For example: the 5, 4, and 9 bead bars on the roof can show that 4+5=9, 5+4=9, and reversely 9-4=5, 9-5=4.
