Julie Sunderland, Dance Teacher
Julie Sunderland is a community educator, teaching artist, and dance enthusiast. As the Director of Outreach and Education at Cincinnati Ballet, she created social, emotionally informed dance classes for over 10,000 students, creating connections through movement all over the city.
Julie has taught dance in over 25 Cincinnati Area schools and teaches DANCEFIX & DANCIEFIX kids. She currently serves on the faculty at Uptown Arts and Cincinnati Ballet. Seven years ago, Julie created Ballet Moves which is an inclusive class for children with all abilities. This innovative ballet program is currently serving the amazing students at North College Hill Elementary.
Julie studied under Jacques d’Amboise at the National Dance Institute in Harlem, New York. She is a certified by the National Dance Institute, Rhythm Works, Boston Ballet’s Adaptive Dance program and DANCEFIX.
Julie is very excited to dance and create with the elementary children of The New School Montessori. Students will learn the fundamentals of movement by mastering choreography with clarity, energy and precision. They’ll learn the value of excellence in dance and the importance of discipline, effort, focus and teamwork. These tools will be implemented to allow students to express themselves and deepen their connections to each other and our community.
