Lindsay received her AMS certification for Early Childhood (3-6) in 2015 at West Side Montessori School in New York City, but is originally from Western Ohio and graduated from Bowling Green State University in International Studies. Although Lindsay enjoyed her studies and looked forward to international travel, she had long been interested in serving young children and accepted an AmeriCorps assignment in a public school in New York’s Lower East Side.

Lindsay first learned about the Montessori philosophy, wishing she had gone  to a Montessori school herself. She then decided to get the training required to become a Montessori-trained educator. Lindsay has gone on to complete her masters at Concordia College in general and special education and hopes to never stop learning. Lindsay said, “Observing children at work in a prepared environment brings me such joy, and so did seeing children adapt and grow from a distance when I began teaching virtually last spring. The partnership I felt with parents and the resilience of children has propelled me forward despite the unique challenges of this past year.”

Lindsay lives in Montclair, New Jersey with her husband and their 2-year-old daughter, Freya and is looking forward to working with the (3-6) Sky Room team at the New School Montessori this year!
