Lucy Durepos, (3-6) Assistant Teacher
Lucy Durepos brings 10+ years of experience as a child caregiver to our learning community, having worked as a nanny and a volunteer with Wordplay Cincy’s K-12 after-school homework help program.
Lucy discovered a passion for research while studying Communication Sciences and Disorders, Women’s Studies and Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University of Cincinnati. She worked as a research assistant for several projects across a variety of disciplines, most recently assisting with the work of one of UC’s Cultural Anthropology and Demography Professors, documenting the local experiences of recently arrived Latinx youth to our city.
For her Senior Capstone, Lucy spent a year volunteering with Opening Minds through Art (OMA), an intergenerational art-making program for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of neurocognitive disorders.
Lucy cherishes moments when she can encourage a child’s autonomy and independence in tandem with their sense of compassion and patience for themselves and others. Lucy is excited and humbled by the opportunity to join The New School Montessori’s team, assisting teachers in the (3-6) classrooms.
