Mandalas for peace

In celebration of the International Day of Peace, observed around the world on Sept 21, New School Montessori (6-9) students created mandalas made from natural elements. Their teacher, Lauren Burke explained the long history of mandalas and how they have spiritual significance in many religions. Mandalas are often used as an aid in meditation, where intense focus on the design patterns can help one find peace and unity within themselves and the Universe.
