Meeting for prospective beginning strings students and parents will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5 in the Annex Music Room. Students in grades 2-6 are eligible.

Melissa Robinson, TNSM’s music teacher and orchestra leader will discuss the strings program and answer any questions the parents may have. Students may choose violin, viola, cello, or bass. We are thrilled to have Melissa Robinson, former NKU director of strings, leading our orchestra program.

A representative from the Baroque Violin Shop will be present to handle  instrument rental. Parents will have the opportunity to rent instrument and students will be able to take instrument home with them that evening. Students should attend the meeting with their parents so that they can be measured for the correctly-sized instrument.

Picture Day (3-6) students and their siblings
Sep 25 all-day

Helen Adams (an alumni parent and professional photographer) will be taking school photos for The New School Montessori again this year.

There is no fee involved if you do not wish to purchase any photos. Your child’s photo will be taken and included in the annual yearbook, but it’s up to you to decide what (if any) poses you’d like to buy.

Helen Adams’ Goal:

“Say goodbye to the awkward school portrait. My mission is to bring authenticity and fun to  school photography. I want to let kids be kids. Let them be sweet, funny or silly. Let them giggle and wiggle. These portraits won’t be stuffed in a drawer for the next 20 years. They will be displayed where they will bring a smile to the heart every time they are seen.”

Clothing should enhance the portrait and not distract from it. Try to avoid patterns, prints or stripes that are too bold. That being said, these portraits are meant to be fun so above all else, the clothing should be true to the subject’s personality and style.

Harvest Moon Festival – Sept 29, 2018
Sep 29 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

It’s time again for our annual Harvest Moon Festival where we come together to celebrate the TNSM community! Alumni families, current families, staff and friends gather with picnic blankets and potluck favorites from many traditions.

Please bring a favorite homemade dish or dessert to share. We provide plates, cups, silverware and water.  For your own comfort please bring a blanket or chairs for seating on the grass and drinks of your choosing.

There will be plenty of playground time for the kids. (A flashlight and sweater can be helpful as the evenings grow cooler and darker).

Please join us in celebrating the special community we are a part of.

Life After TNSM @ Growing Room at TNSM
Oct 3 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Every year TNSM offers an evening called, Life After The New School.  We invite school representatives from institutions where our 6th grade students often enroll.   All (9-12) families are invited to attend this informative evening.  We usually have representatives from 7 Hills, Cincinnati Country Day, Summit Country Day, The School for Creative and Performing Arts, Walnut Hills, Clark Montessori, and Gamble Montessori.

We also invite 7th graders to return to TNSM on that evening to answer 6th graders’ questions about their experiences at their schools.

We look forward to seeing you on Oct.3rd.  Please do not hesitate to reach out with any further questions.

Best,

Jeff Groh
