For the past few years on the Saturday before Mother’s Day, we’ve enjoyed a hearty breakfast of pancakes, fruit and turkey sausage served by TNSM students.
It’s a great opportunity to visit with friends, alumni, neighbors and other TNSM staff and parents while also enjoying a fabulous art show of students’ work.
Tickets can be purchased at the door for $7/ person or $25/ family.
Each year, New School Montessori sixth graders embark on a year-long odyssey, researching a topic of interest to them. They condense their fifteen-page papers into riveting 5-minute oral Power Point presentations. In the span of a pleasant evening you can learn about many interesting topics and characters from history.
Our alumni often return to the school to support this year’s 6th graders. They’ve shared that their Senior Project experience prepared them – not only for the rigors of junior high and high school – but for writing, public speaking and the joy of learning they have experienced in their university studies and in their careers.
All are welcome to attend. It’s something special to see.
Please join us in celebrating the music of TNSM’s orchestra. We are thrilled to have Melissa Robinson, former NKU director of strings and TNSM parent, leading our orchestra program as she challenges and engages the children in their music.

Elementary-age students practice the independence and confidence they’ve built throughout the year in a new setting with new challenges at Camp Ernst. Students receive encouragement and cheers of support from teachers, classmates and parent chaperones as they wobble across rope bridges, glide through treetops on zip lines and rope swings, ring bells on climbing walls, paddle kayaks, and more. It’s a wonderful time to get to know one another better on this 2-day and 1-night adventure while watching students’ confidence soar as they reach one milestone after another.
This is a day of celebration for students and staff. TNSM’s Director grills turkey hot dogs and the elementary students enjoy classroom-specific activities and give a talent show to one another.
Preprimary students and parents enjoy a lovely picnic lunch provided by TNSM. Bring blankets to spread on the ground of the (3-6) play yard. Following the lunch, we will have a brief Step Up Ceremony to honor the kindergartners’ time in preprimary and to advance them to 1st grade. Both the lunch and the celebration should be over by 1:00.
All preprimary children will need to be taken home at 1:00. Ex-Day will not be available for preprimary children that day.
Summer Program is a wonderful opportunity for your child to grow in a caring and nurturing atmosphere. It is designed to offer consistency in social and emotional development and an introduction to the academic world of Montessori and The New School. Children new to TNSM will be introduced to the routines and expectations that will be in place once the regular school days begin. Children returning after a year or more with our community will continue their work, fine-tuning their skills, meeting our new friends, and acting as role models.
- We offer a summer program for 3- to 6-year-olds between June 17 and July 12 for families who are enrolled or enrolling at TNSM in the fall.
- We are closed on July 4,5.
