Children in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade spend a portion of each testing day this week to complete a section of the TerraNova Test. This is the only standardized test given during the year.
Taking the TerraNova serves as a practical life tool but also identifies student performance toward mastery of specific content objectives. It’s important to note that children’s academic progress is based on a number of factors that include, but are not limited to, the TerraNova test alone.
We hope you’ll join us for an evening of fun.
Interested TNSM friends, families and staff are invited to help with fall clean-up 8am until noon.
We will be spreading mulch in both the preprimary and elementary woods (50 yrds), cleaning out flowerbeds along the teachers’ parking lot and the Ginkgo House (E.C.).
Tools for parents to bring would be: rakes (leaf and garden) snow or grain shovels, pitch forks, tarps, wheel barrows or garden carts etc.
Bagels, fruit, coffee etc will be provided.
Alumni students and families: Contact the office at 513-281-7999 if you can help, so we’ll have enough snacks for everyone. (Current TNSM parents can sign up to attend via an email that was sent to them through SignUpGenius).
Sign-up sheets or online signups for conference times will be available prior to conference day. Watch our weekly newsletter for reminders. Childcare is provided on an as-needed basis for children of New School age if you let us know you need it.
Students and parent volunteers are invited to walk on a course through TNSM’s campus to raise important funds for the New School Montessori. Students will receive pledges from friends and family for their time spent walking. It’s fun for the whole family!
Each year, 4th and 5th grade students, chaperones and teachers spend time visiting a location that is a bit farther from home than a simple field trip. Students plan their trip with their teachers and research the sights they’ll see.
Grandparent and Special Friends Day is a time when students of all ages enjoy sharing their school with relatives, neighbors and friends. It is not an event with a presentation or formal tours. Instead, it’s a time where the children can take relatives or family friends through a typical day, showing them some of their favorite works, where they eat lunch, the woods, etc. Classroom teachers are available to answer any questions that may arise.
