What staff has been up to over the summer.

Administrative Team: Eric Dustman trekked across the United States with 6 children and Philip Theodosopolous in an RV. They had a great time showing the children the expansive midwest as they stopped here and there to see exciting sights along the way. Their last stop delivered the Theodosopolous family to their new home in San Francisco. Jeff Groh hiked part of the Appalachian Trail with his friend for a few days and vacationed with his wife and son for a relaxing week of naps, diaper changes and lovely hikes by the lake. Beth Barton vacationed at Niagara on the Lake in Ontario …

Just singing in the rain…

Turn the washing machine dial to HEAVY; the kids might come home a bit dirty today. Who can resist playing in puddles left by a spring shower?   [fbphotos id=464557530296790]

What’s all the buzz? Honeybees visit TNSM.

Andrew Kartal is a longtime beekeeper and friend of The New School Montessori. He enjoys visiting us each year to share his love of bees (and honey) with the non-nappers. We always invite Andrew to join us for lunch, and he stays into the afternoon giving the children plenty of time to ask questions and see the bees up close. Even Yance, our facilities manager, was lured by the buzz and had some questions of his own. [fbphotos id=464151880337355]

Action Photos from Camp Ernst

The elementary-age students have the opportunity each year to experience a high adventure YMCA camp called Camp Ernst with its jumbo water slides, kayaks, rope bridges, climbing walls, zip lines and rope swings. It’s a wonderful time for students, parent chaperones and staff to challenge themselves a bit and to get to know one another better on this 2-day and 1-night adventure.   [fbphotos id=464142290338314]

3rd Grade Presentations and Play

The third-grade students did a remarkable job of presenting their projects on Ancient Mesoamerica, and we also enjoyed their play called, The Boy Who Could Do Anything. We are grateful to parents Megan Park, Josefa Rangel and Jennifer Frank for their assistance in directing the play. [fbphotos id=464113853674491]

Leaving for Camp Ernst

The elementary students look forward each year to our overnight at Camp Ernst where they enjoy the challenges of mastering ropes courses, water slides, zip lines and more. Students feel the support of their friends, teachers and parent chaperones as they are encouraged along the way. There’s no better feeling than to ring that bell on the top of the climbing wall knowing you have the support of your community behind you and that you did it! [fbphotos id=461573333928543]
