Andrew Kartal is a longtime beekeeper and friend of The New School Montessori. He enjoys visiting us each year to share his love of bees (and honey) with the non-nappers. We always invite Andrew to join us for lunch, and he stays into the afternoon giving the children plenty of time to ask questions and see the bees up close. The elementary-age students have the opportunity each year to experience a high adventure YMCA camp called Camp Ernst with its jumbo water slides, kayaks, rope bridges, climbing walls, zip lines and rope swings. It’s a wonderful time for students, parent chaperones and staff to challenge themselves a bit and to get to know one another better on this 2-day and 1-night adventure. [fbphotos id=464142290338314]
3rd Grade Presentations and Play
The third-grade students did a remarkable job of presenting their projects on Ancient Mesoamerica, and we also enjoyed their play called, The Boy Who Could Do Anything. Leaving for Camp Ernst
The elementary students look forward each year to our overnight at Camp Ernst where they enjoy the challenges of mastering ropes courses, water slides, zip lines and more. Students feel the support of their friends, teachers and parent chaperones as they are encouraged along the way. Comedy Club Performance – Hilarious!!!

TNSM Orchestra enjoyed an evening at a College Hill Community Dinner
The New School Montessori Orchestra and Beginning Strings students shared the gift of music with homeless and disadvantaged members of the community at a dinner hosted by the Grace Episcopal Church in College Hill. The church regularly plans these gatherings for members of the community in need. TNSM students were excited for the opportunity to enjoy a meal with the College Hill community. Visitors expressed their appreciation by dancing to some of the numbers and by thanking the children for spending an evening with them sharing music together. Educating the Whole Child
While many schools are looking to eliminate arts programs in order to better meet the pressures imposed by standardized tests and data driven assessment, we’re planning to continue doing the latter while also expanding our ability to serve the whole child, through an expansion of our facilities and the arts taught within them.
