You’ve probably heard of a full Moon or a new Moon, but did you know there are actually 8 lunar phases, including waxing and waning gibbous, and crescent Moons as well?
New School Montessori 4th, 5th and 6th graders learned about this and even tested it out in a darkened room using a flashlight as the sun and round balls as the Earth and Moon. The lunar phases gradually change as the Moon’s orbital positions around Earth and Earth around the Sun shift.
