Please test before returning and other ways to help

Hello Friends,

Happy New Year.  I love this time of year as we reflect and dream.  There are so many things to be grateful for.  So many things that make me hopeful.  And yet, here we are, navigating another variant and surge.  We hope your family and loved ones are healthy and safe.  For those in our community who are on the front lines in hospitals and medical centers, our thoughts are with you.

We are asking all of our families to please test before returning to TNSM on Monday, Jan. 3rd.  It seems certain that we will be experiencing positive cases within our school community over the next couple of weeks as infection numbers have dramatically increased in our area over the winter break and people have been gathering for the holidays.  TNSM will continue to do everything we can to provide a safe and joyous environment for your children. I know that we will all work together to stay healthy and on campus.

You can help by:
  • getting tested before returning to campus
  • keeping children home who are experiencing symptoms
  • having at -home testing kits (if you can find any)
  • having a plan for if your child needs to quarantine or isolate
  • getting vaccinated (including your booster shot)
  • avoiding indoor crowds that do not require negative tests or vaccinations
  • wearing a mask

As a reminder TNSM has adopted the ODH and CDC guidelines around quarantining that allows close contacts to remain on campus if they test.  Positive cases will be reported and will follow CDC isolation guidelines.  If, however, there seems to be clear examples of campus spread or if staffing becomes too thin to maintain a safe learning environment, we will pivot to our at-home learning programs.  Our COVID Task Force Committee made up of parents and board members will continue to meet and discuss current research, health and safety guidelines, and evaluate TNSM’s policies and procedures.

We will get through this.  This will get better.  See you in the new year!
