The Gift of Process

Following a season where much attention is placed on product or the number acquired, it’s important to reflect for a moment about the process that led one to choose that gift that you, the recipient, now hold dear.  For this process, which is thought of little at the time or never if encouragement is not given, contains countless hours of success, challenge, joy and struggle.   We all engage in relationships and each is its own process.  And while sometimes viewed inversely, it is the process that equates the value of each relationship, not the products given or received.  Hence, the transformation that comes with process is remarkable and one that should not be left unnoticed.

TNSM provides and places great emphasis on process.  A child’s academic and developmental process at TNSM is 9-years.  It is a long, exciting, arduous and rewarding cycle.  Much seems to be a work in progress and indeed it is.

Certainly not overnight nor from one day to the next, the child assuredly grows over time.  As she does, she learns the value of relationship, reliability, organization, insight, and good thought.  She learns about how things work, their interdependence and why things function as they do.  She gains independence, grows confident and becomes aware of her capabilities.  Most importantly, the process supports her transformation as she makes sense of herself, her skill and knowledge and where fits in the big picture.

So the process of engagement is forever changing at TNSM and occurs over an extended period of time.  As such, it affords children with a safe and predictable environment where they develop individually and collectively.   Who they become is our product.  It is our one gift that we give.  It is invaluable and lifelong.
