The New School Montessori

TNSM Soccer has a memorable 1st year!

October 30th, 2024

The New School Montessori was named “The New School” to remind us to be open to innovations in teaching, ways of thinking and ideas. So it was no surprise that in the fall of 2024, TNSM teacher, parent, and SAY East tournament coordinator, Catherine Pray Bollmann, added a new element for our students, TNSM soccer! There was so much interest in boys and girls soccer, that it required forming 5 teams in order to make space for everyone. And it's not just the kids who are having fun, the whole school is enjoying the "soccer buzz," with extended family and friends appreciating their time together on the sidelines. Most importantly, parents have marveled at the way TNSM students continuously give each other support during the games, both at missed shots and goals.

It is with great joy and pride that we announce that our students all played well and had a terrific time, with our Boys Striker team not only winning their division for the regular season, but then qualifying for the SAY East tournament and winning the entire SAY East Tournament!

The boys had a first-round bye in the tournament and then played Price Hill Lord’s Gym in the quarterfinals and won 6-1. They then played against St. Mary’s in the semi-finals and won 3-1. Finally, they played Sands Montessori in the championship game where they were tied 3-3 at the end of the game. They went into overtime and scored 3 goals in the first 8-minute overtime period. They won the championship game 6-3 in OT!! They have qualified for the TOAST tournament as a result, which is The Ohio Area State Tournament. This tournament will be held November 8, 9, 16 and 17.

The Girls TNSM Wings team won 2 important games in their tournament that advanced them to the championship game which they came close to winning, but lost 2-1. We are so proud of our Girls TNSM Wings team for finishing the year strong and celebrate with them as they gathered their well-earned Runner's Up trophies!

Congratulations to TNSM players, coaches and Catherine Pray Bollmann for a memorable first season.
