Search Committee Update 2/25/15
Dear Members of The New School Montessori Community:
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, it is our pleasure to announce the selection of Jeff Groh as TNSM’s 5th Head of School.
Jeff has been a familiar face at TNSM for 7 years. He brings a depth of experience in Montessori education, leadership, and theater training. Following a comprehensive search process involving faculty, staff, parents, alumni and trustees, the Search Committee recommended Jeff as the next head, and the Board of Trustees unanimously endorsed him to lead us as we approach our 45th anniversary year.
Jeff has proven his ability to improve enrollment in his current position as Admissions Director and Assistant Director. He has also developed his marketing expertise with new and innovative ideas. In his encounters with parents, faculty, and trustees, he demonstrated that he is a highly capable, energetic, and charismatic leader who is passionate about Montessori education and The New School Montessori. Jeff’s calm collaborative approach will ease his transition to lead our community.
We are deeply grateful to the various TNSM constituencies for their significant contributions during the search. The thoughtful input and insights provided valuable feedback for creating our candidate profile and guided the Search Committee’s deliberations.
Jeff will succeed long-time head Eric Dustman as he assumes the role of director at a Montessori program in China. Eric will leave a legacy of important contributions that have afforded TNSM a rich culture, a beautiful campus, and a strong Montessori education.
Please join us in welcoming Jeff, his talented wife Raphaela and soon-to-be student of TNSM, Jakob. We are thrilled at the possibilities of TNSM’s continued growth as a leader in Montessori education and a place where our children are truly respected every day. No doubt our best is yet to come.

Search Committee Update 2/13/15
The Search Committee has completed the interview process for the new Director. Thank you to parents, staff, and alumni who participated in the process with thoughtful feedback and support. We realize the community is anxious to know the outcome.
Here is a summary of the next steps.
- The Board will meet with the search committee following the next regularly scheduled Board meeting on February 17.
- The recommendation of the Search Committee and the supporting rationale, including documentation of staff and community feedback, will be presented and considered.
- The Board will begin deliberation. After a formal vote of the Board, the chosen candidate will be offered the position.
- Once an offer has been accepted, a formal announcement will be made to the TNSM community.
It is in our collective interest to mindfully select a leader who will guide The New School Montessori into an even brighter, sustainable future. Please understand the final details may take some time to complete. Thank you for your patience.
Search Committee Update 10/27/14
At last week’s community meeting, Amanda Adkins, president of the board of trustees, informed the attendees of the search committee’s progress. Multiple applications have been received, and interviews continue. Once the candidates have been narrowed down, they will be introduced to the community for input in the new year.
