Animal Visitors from Hamilton County Parks

What a beautiful day for Sunny Rhein and the Non-nappers to invite Julie Stubbs and her springtime friends from Hamilton County Parks to our school.

Julie showed the children many different insects, nests, bird eggs, toads, frogs and more. The kids (and I) were pretty surprised when Julie held a male carpenter bee between her fingers. We were shocked to learn that the males don’t have stingers. We also marveled at the tiny bean-sized humming bird egg next to the cantaloupe-sized ostrich egg and enjoyed using our pretend binoculars to spot various hidden nests that Julie hid in the TNSM elementary woods.
